Health & Wellness Specialized High Skills Major
Here at Twin Lakes Secondary School we offer the SHSM program for grade 11 & 12 cosmetology students. Students in this program will have an opportunity to excel in hairstyling and aesthetics, and expand their knowledge and experience.

What is it?

SHSM is a program designated for those students who are focusing on a specific career in health and wellness. At Twin, this program will provide students with certifications, experiences, and advanced training in the direction of their specific interest.

Who is it for?
​
SHSM is for students in grades 11 and 12 who want to work to get an apprenticeship, or want to go to college, university or right into the workplace. It's for students that want to identify, explore and clarify their career goals, and help them make important decisions about their next steps after high school as well as providing them with a substantial portfolio. (Cosmetology, Health and Wellness, Naturopathy, Sports Medicine, and much more).

Here at Twin Lakes
The cosmetology SHSM gives Twin Lake students the chance to jump into the salon & spa world. Students spend time exploring new opportunities and gaining experiences and skills.
​
Students spend extra time in the salon, and participate in special events in the community. Most recently, they took part in an entrepreneurship adventure where they produced their own 100% organic products to sell and raise money for charity.
​
SHSM students will receive a special SHSM seal on their diplomas upon completion of the program.
